Build an Email List Full of Targeted Customers
Building an email list is an important part of marketing. If you have an Internet business, you need to be sending out emails to your customer base on a regular basis. However, many people make the mistake of thinking that “email list building” is the same as “sending emails randomly”. This is not true.
In fact, marketers who are successful have different styles. Some send out constant streams of sales messages to their subscribers. Others are very reserved and send out one or two emails per week. Yet, all these subscribers would benefit from the same basic principles in their marketing efforts: build relationships, improve customer loyalty, and maximize click-through rates.
When you send emails to people who have not visited your site in a while, you lose them. People do not remember where they came from if you did not give them a reason to visit in the first place. Build relationships with your list subscribers by offering useful information they can use. Offer them free reports, email courses, or free downloads so that inactive subscribers find your site again and become loyal customers.
You also want to continue to build relationships with your list subscribers by offering them ongoing products and services that you are offering for a price. Offer free newsletters, email courses, and other free content so that inactive subscribers become excited about your product line and sign up for future email marketing communications. These messages should always offer more than just the product. For example, if you are offering a six-week autoresponder series, include an individual report with tips about how to optimize your autoresponder series, a how-to guide to setting up landing pages, and an individual webinar about how to drive traffic to opt-in forms.
After you have built relationships with your list members, continue to test new segments with varying click-through rates and response rates. Build another segment around one of your most popular features and another that has low response rates. These should be used on a regular basis to test which segments bring in the most revenue. This is where things get tricky.
As mentioned earlier, the key to making sales using email marketing is to make sure that your email campaigns are segmented properly. Email marketing experts suggest that you split your subscriber lists into three separate groups: social media contacts, email leads, and traditional contacts. You should then target your email campaigns to each of these groups so that you can maximize your opportunity to get started with making sales.
An important thing to remember when segmenting your subscribers is to vary your subject lines. Make sure you change your subject lines from time to stay fresh and interesting. You may also want to add a call to action to your emails. For example, you could add something like “click here to learn more about [fill in the blank]” to help your subscribers move through your emails more quickly.
Finally, you should test your emails regularly. You should send your emails out at least three times a week, but maybe even more. You should send them to people who have expressed an interest in your particular niche before. If you can gain insight from the test group’s open rate responses, then you should increase your frequency of sending emails to these new contacts as well.
Another way to build a highly effective email list is to build a lead magnet that entices the reader to click on it. This is actually much more difficult than it may seem. You need to write killer lead magnets or else you won’t achieve success with this tactic.
However, an excellent email marketing product to consider using is autoresponders. Autoresponders are exceptionally useful for helping you build an email list. You can set one up with just a few clicks and start building your list immediately. You can also set up some autoresponders to send out certain predetermined emails automatically as soon as someone logs into their accounts on your website, which can be highly effective if you send out periodic newsletters. There are a few other autoresponders to consider as well.
All of these services work together to help you grow your email list and improve your sales performance. However, when using a combination of any of these products, the ultimate goal is to create an email marketing business that works consistently. You’ll have to use all of these services together to make sure that happens. This will take some time and effort, but the end result will be more than worth it.
